What is FUSS?
In Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS), the hair for relocation is obtained by surgically excising a strip of hair bearing skin from the donor region of the scalp.
A strip of tissue from the donor area once extracted is then cut into many individual follicular units (grafts) for transplant. A careful creation of these grafts for transplant is the key to high survival rate of the grafts.
Donor site
The determination of donor site is critical in Follicular Unit Strip Surgery.
Typically the area in the back and sides of the scalp where hair is more resistant to balding is chosen for donor site.
Be aware of physicians who ignores this basic principle.
Japan's First Post-operative Shampoo Service
We provide shampoo service for all patients the next day after your surgery.
Careful shampooing is the key to minimizing the scab formation after the surgery.(as of 2014)
FUSS Procedure
Using a scalpel, a strip of hair bearing skin from the donor region of the scalp is excised.
Typically the area in the back of the scalp where hair is more resistant to balding is chosen for donor site. Careful selection of donor site to ensure minimal scarring.

Suturing of donor site.
Minimal pain and discomfort post-op.
However, slight pulling sensation is often felt by some patients which will disappear with time. Suture line will be concealed with surrounding hair and will not be noticeable.
▼
The strip is then dissected for harvesting.
In order to transplant the donor with minimal time, the strip is dissected for creation of grafts.
Swiftness is the key to a higher graft survival rate and ensure a successful hair transplant.

The creation of the recipient sites using Micro Punch Blade.
With the use of the world's smallest 0.63mm micro punch blade, recipient sites are made individually by a highly skilled physician. The use of micro punch blade ensures you with more natural looking hair.

Grafts are transplanted pneumatically to avoid damages.
Harvested grafts are damaged with prolonged air exposure.
We carefully transplant the grafts pneumatically with minimal time for a successful procedure.

Post-op care
A bandage and dressing are placed around the head to cover both the donor and recipient sites and a bandana is worn home. They can be removed after bath the next day.

Procedure is a same day surgery. Post-op instructions will be given.
It is important that you follow all post-operative instructions to ensure optimal results.
We have shampoo service the following day to minimize scab formation for your comfort.
Throughout the procedure and after the procedure, we will answer all your questions.
